Salesforce is an American cloud computing company that was founded back in 1999 by Marc Benioff, Parker Harris and colleagues. Nineteen years later the company has more than 25,000 staff under its belt and is worth billions. With its headquarters based in San Francisco, California the company has also acquired various acquisitions during its existence and is now one of the most valuable American cloud computing services out there.

While most of this revenue has been earned through its customer relationship management (CRM) product, the company has been investing heavily in the world of artificial intelligence (AI) for the past few years. And, as a result of this dabbling, a new AI machine called Einstein was born.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Switzerland earlier this week, Benioff was asked to give an example as to how AI can help in terms of big data. Here’s what he came up with:

“I have my top 30 or 40 executives around my table and we figure out how we are doing as we look at all of this analysis. But now I have a new person with me and it’s kind of an empty chair. We have a technology called Einstein.” After asking all the executives in the room how to solve a problem, Benioff then turns to the AI and asks, “I heard what everybody said but what do you actually think?”

Einstein’s been used in this way by Benioff for more than a year now, and just recently Einstein spoke up in a meeting and questioned one of the executives’ reports. “Well, I don’t think this executive is going to make their number, I’m so sorry,” said Einstein. Of course the employee was a little upset, but after going through the numbers it was clear to see that the AI was in fact right.

It’s just another example of many in which AI has been proven to be more capable than humans. In no time at all there will be AI in one form or another pretty much everywhere you turn. You’ll have AI driving you around, serving you at the bank, working alongside you as your colleague, and even cleaning your house. No longer is this stuff just in the movies, it is real life. Are you ready for the AI revolution?
